About us
AMURT is an international relief and development
organization working in 18 countries. We work with marginalized
people to help them become self-sufficient in the basic
necessities of life: food and water, education, shelter and
healthcare. We broaden the notion of family to include everyone
in need of assistance. We feel that all people should have equal
opportunity to flourish in life.
Rurapuk project coordinator – Didi Ananda Muktivrata (Kristine
Richards from Blair Nebraska) is a yogic nun with Ananda Marga -
a non-political, non-governmental organization founded in India.
Didis (which literally means Sister) are women who act as social
workers, teachers, principals, doctors, and mothers to people in
need in impoverished communities around the globe. Didi, a
member of Ananda Marga since 1976, came to Peru in 2000, with a
view to teach people meditation and organize and supervise
social service projects. She runs a Neohumanist pre-school in
Los Cedros, a middle class suburb in Lima, Peru. Before joining
Ananda Marga, Didi worked as a nurse in the US.
Web page design - Didi and AMURT volunteers prepared these web
pages together with Karl of
iConsultancy in order to assist the Rurapuk
collective.
